We are Freaktown Comics – a new UK-based small press
publishing imprint, specialising in horror and adventure one-shots.
Our first title is THE DARK OF THE FOREST
It
all started out so innocently.
Seven
friends set out on a birdwatching weekend in the middle of the Navarre forest.
Little did they know that while they were watching the birds, something else
was watching them. Something that wasn’t human. Something very protective of
the forest, and willing to kill anyone that gets in its way.
Something
hungry.
Freaktown
Comics brings you a desperate tale of survival, humans united against a
mysterious and deadly predator in a bloody battle to the death.
Written by Russell Hillman, with art by Sergio Calvet.
48pages full colour, £6.50
We also have FAST AND FRIGHTENING – A COMIC ABOUT
ROLLER DERBY
Blown away by their first bout, four young women decide
to take on the world. With skates on their feet, helmets on their heads, pads
on their knees and fire in their hearts they assemble a mighty roller derby
league. Follow their exploits on and off the track as they skate fast, turn
left and hit hard. It’s red-hot girl-on-girl sports action!
Freaktown Comics brings the excitement and action of
roller derby to the comics page, and introduces you to the people who make it
happen.
Written by Russell Hillman, with art by Carlos Pedro
and Keith Chan.
104 pages, black and white, £12.00
Both books will be on sale at the Thought Bubble comic
convention in late November, and will be available to order through http://www.ukcomicscreative.co.uk/
from Wednesday 27th November
If you would be interested in running this as a full
press release including preview art pages, or would like a pdf review copy of
either or both titles, please email freaktowncomics@gmail.com

That's one and two, what about three?
I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this
year – too much other stuff going on to give it my fullest attention. Instead,
I’m doing my own invention – I bring you:
LoHoBloMo
(Local Horror Blogging Month)
It’s not national, it’s not a
novel, I’m posting them on my blog in November not necessarily writing them in
November... but it is still a month.
(I did consider calling it
Local Blogging Horror Month but the abbreviation would have been LoBloHoMo,
which would give people the wrong idea.)
So, for the month ahead, my
infrequently updated generally comics-themed blog will become a regularly
updated horror-themed blog. Then it’ll go back to being infrequently updated
and generally comics-themed again.
It will be predominantly
movie-based, with a few editions related to TV and comics.
Come back here tomorrow and
I’ll tell you about the star of my favourite slasher movie franchise.
In the meantime, HAPPY
HALLOWEEN. (That’s not a clue, by the way)
